Apple has announced a new residency program dedicated to AI/Machine Learning


Apple has announced a new residency program this week dedicated to Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The program is scheduled to start in the summer of 2021. Its centers will be spread in the US and outside.

Apple residency program has been designed to stimulate experts to create groundbreaking products powered by AI and Machine Learning. Michael Rennaker who is the AI/ML Research in Academia Lead has also shared the announcement in his tweet.

According to the Apple website, Apple residency program “invites experts in various fields to apply their expertise to build revolutionary machine learning and AI empowered products and experiences.”

The program will run for a year. Applicants with graduate degrees in STEM or those who have the relevant industrial experience, experience in coding and software engineering, and expertise in niche areas like design, linguistics, neuroscience, or psychology will be eligible for the program.

The aim of the one year program is to work on the resident’s technical and theoretical development in the field of machine learning. This will also help them to advance in their professional careers. The features of this Apple residency program include personalized machine learning and AI courses, an Apple mentor, performing collaborative work with other residents, and also gain experience in “high-impact projects”.

Apple has made the job openings available on Apple’s jobs website. Locations include Seattle, Cambridge, Zurich, Cupertino in the US, and also multiple locations within Germany.
