Samsung is a popular South Korean brand famous for its electronics, household convenience products, and other subsidiary brands. This multinational company has recently registered the brand name ‘Iris Ring‘ in its home country South Korea.
As we all know that Samsung often brings surprises for its customers with their latest inventions. But this time, Samsung has left us with many speculations as it has only applied for the registration of the brand name consisting of only two words.
At the end of the 2nd week of August, Samsung Display filed an application in South Korea for the protection of the ‘Iris Ring‘ trademark. The application has no further comments on the purpose of the trademark, it only has just two words. This has given rise to many vague imaginations regarding the brand name.
What does the Iris Ring refer to?
Samsung and the term Iris were related for quite a while since the company had been using its Iris scanner in its smartphones in the past. This scanner used the biometric information of the Irises for identification. However, this feature is not used anymore since the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S20 came to the market.
But, how is this related to Iris Ring? Well, speculations have it that, with the Iris scanner gone, Samsung is focusing on its Under Panel Sensors. These sensors will be used for the cameras that will sit under the screen and will come without any notches, recesses, or wide bezels.
This could also not be the case. Iris Ring could also add up as an additional feature for any accessory or other devices developed by Samsung. But, there are wide speculations and hope around this Iris ring being the long-awaited Under Panel Sensors from the company.
Samsung has not yet revealed any information regarding the registration. Will Samsung clarify the speculations with its newly launched products in the near future? Let’s hope for the best.
