Samsung’s HDR10+ now collaborates with Google Play Movies for extended contents

Samsung has been streaming HDR10+ for quite some time now and according to the latest news from the tech giant, the company is further expanding its HDR10+ streaming content offering with the latest addition of Google Play Movies to the services that support its next-gen picture-quality technology.

It was not like Google Play Movies has been supported by HDR10+ content for a long time. On the contrary, the platform started streaming HDR10+ content only in July this year. Now, the HDR10+ service is available on Samsung Smart TV in 117 countries including Korea and in continents like North America and Europe.

Google Play Movies offers a range of movies from action-packed superhero movies such as Aquaman, Joker, Wonder Woman, Shazam! to popular romantic comedies like Crazy Rich Asians. These are not the only movies available on the platform as there are numerous other famous and popular titles available.

Google Play Movies plans to support HDR10+ technology on other additional platforms in the future as well. Samsung Electronics is the leader when it comes to streaming HDR10+ quality videos. HDR10+ brings consumers not only perfect quality experience but also offers that experience in a range of movies. HDR10+ does that by optimizing brightness and contrast scene for enhanced three-dimensional videos and accurate colour expression.

Samsung Electronics formed HDR10+ LLC (HDR10+ technology joint venture) in 2017 and started to engage in certification programs in 2018.

We are pleased to expand partnerships with the top global streaming providers. We will continue to strengthen the leadership of our HDR standard and lead the innovation in TV technology in the global market.

said Younghun Choi, Executive Vice President and Head of R&D team, Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. So far the HDR10+ has 108 partners worldwide but the numbers are expected to rise in the future.
