Xiaomi to launch Redmi 9 on August 31 in India to uplift budget segment sales

The wait for budget smartphone users is finally over. Xiaomi India has launched its budget segment beast, the Redmi 9 for its Indian market. It shall be available on the online partner sites like Amazon.in, Mi.com, Mi Home Stores, and other offline partner stores from August 31.

For now it will be priced at Rs.8,999 for the 4GB+64GB variant while the 4GB+128GB variant will be sold for Rs.9,999 and will be available in three major colour options- Sky Blue, Sporty Orange and Carbon Black.

Mi has been facing stiff competitions for some time now in the budget segments with the likes of Realme who have recently launched the Realme C12 and Realme C15 with a massive 5,000 mAH battery.

Just before this launch, we have seen Xiaomi relaunching products with new names to attract the Indian market by launching the global variant of Redmi 9 as Redmi 9 Prime, and thus it can be understood that this phone will be a rebranded and reworked Redmi 9C with a different back camera set-up.

It will sport a 6.53-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop notch at the top, bearing a resolution of 1600 X 7200 pixels. The Aura Edge design at the back will be supplemented by a 13MP primary sensor camera and a secondary 2MP depth sensor camera in a dual set up. The front camera will be an ordinary 5MP shooter. The fingerprint will be at the back and there will also be a 2D Face Unlock feature for better security.

The beast will be backed by a 5000 mAh battery and a support for 10W charging through a Type-C port. 3.5 mm jack will be present in the device and all this shall be protected by an overall P2i coating that repels water.

The phone will run on Android 10 OS and an MIUI 12 skin atop, simply out of the box. Thus get ready to book your budget monsters on the 31st.
