LG Electronics will launch a series of new and complex sensors to be used in home settings in the second half of this year. These sensors are ultra-high performance sensors that come equipped with the ability to detect dust and harmful substances indoors, control temperature/humidity and also detect occupancy. The invention of smart sensors will realize the company’s dream of a smart home, and with the launch of the LG complex sensor, the company will certainly take a step ahead when it comes to integrating smart appliances within the home environment.
LG Electronics, as per a few reports, is developing and commercializing a wall-mounted complex sensor. As of now, the company is mostly occupied with analyzing the marketability of its new products and verifying safety, accuracy, and technology feasibility. The complex sensors in question are being installed and tested in LG ThinQ Home in Pangyo New Town, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do.
The complex sensor that LG is referring to is basically a sensor hub concept that can be hung on the wall like a clock. This sensor can detect the indoor environment, the absence of anyone inside the room, and the amount of sunlight that a room receives every day accurately.
The smart home appliances offered by LG already come with temperature and humidity sensors; however, these appliances cannot precisely detect the temperature and humidity inside a room due to their own heat and vibrations generated by the machine. This also indicates that the new complex sensors can do so accurately without considering the machine-generated temperature and heat.
If LG successfully analyses the indoor situation, it would make it easier for the company to implement its artificial intelligence-based smart home technology. On the other hand, the composite sensors can automatically control home appliances, manage energy, and implement customized smart home devices. If a complex sensor detects harmful substances indoors, it can turn on an air purifier, or if the number of sunlight increases inside a room, it can turn up the brightness of the TV.
The price of the complex sensors is expected to be somewhere around 300,000 won.
