Microsoft is bringing Pirates of the Caribbean to its game Sea of Thieves

The famous beloved pirate from the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise, Captain Jack Sparrow is finally coming to Rare’s Sea of Thieves. Microsoft recently announced a free Pirates-themed expansion of the game, and it will launch on June 22nd on the Xbox E3 2021.

“Unfolding across five incredible tales packed with secrets and side-quests, this new campaign gives players a lovingly crafted story to play solo or with their crew,” Microsoft in a blog post.

The creative director of Sea of Thieves wrote in a blog post, “The heart of our story explores what it truly means to be a pirate on the Sea of Thieves, and this has allowed us not only to tap into the deeper meaning of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and the original attraction but also allow players to go on adventures with Jack Sparrow, learning more about how he sees the pirate life and his place on the Sea of Thieves. This story moves the Sea of Thieves world forwards in unexpected ways, and it’s been a joy to bring these two worlds together, treating both in a way that feels authentic and delightful to experience.”

The storyline takes inspiration both from the billion-dollar film franchise and the original theme park ride. The game’s third season will also be heavily based on this game.

The official sources mention that the Sea of Thieves: Pirate Life will be divided into five chapters or stories, and each story is full of secrets and various side quests. The players of the game will partake in Captain Jack Sparrow’s adventures which will also include rescuing the infamous fictitious pirate in Pirates of the Caribbean and embark on an epic adventure together.

The players will work to free Captain Jack Sparrow from prison while also try to evade the villain of the movie franchise Davy Jones in the quest. The gameplay will include locations both from the Sea of Thieves and the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
