A number of users of OnePlus smartphones have come forward complaining about the inexplicable battery usage of their respective smartphones. From there rose the controversy involving OxygenOS’s daily app experience. The smartphone maker has finally given its official statement on its official forum.
The statement reads, “In recent years, the performance of smartphone SoC has reached a level. The power of the chipset is often too strong when it comes to gadgets and even some light games. With this in mind, the OnePlus team has shifted its focus from performance first to more in line with user expectations, while reducing power consumption and fever.”
The statement further reads, “When we launched the OnePlus 9 Series in March earlier this year, one of the most important things we wanted to focus on was performance, the kind of fast and smooth experience you’ve come to expect from OnePlus phones. Recently, the OnePlus 9 Pro was reported to have performed poorly during third-party benchmarking tests. These tests have raised some questions and concerns from users and media, so we wanted to take some time to share more details about why we’ve taken this approach to deal with battery performance and heat management.”
A few techies are of the opinion that the battery life improvement which took place due to this measure is insignificant. Moreover, when the battery life is not satisfactory, OnePlus also could increase the battery capacity. Additionally, OnePlus has compromised too much between the internal space of the fuselage and the heat dissipation efficiency and has chosen a more software-oriented solution.
Since OnePlus is one of the leading smartphone companies and users rely on it, the company should come forward to clarify the performance preset plan to users in advance. The company should also take into account how to provide an option to disable throttling on demand.
