The Galaxy Xcover 4s is the latest smartphone from Samsung to get the July 2021 security update. The smartphone was launched back in 2019 and it runs on Android 9 based One UI; however, the smartphone received the Android 10 update in 2020, and the Android 11 update last month.
The new software update for the Galaxy Xcover 4s comes with firmware version G398FNXXUCCUG1 which also includes the July 2021 security update patch. As per the company, the new security update fixes some of the security issues while at the same time also fixing the Android Auto bug. The update could also bring some device stability improvements.
The update has been launched specifically in the Nordic region. Those in the specified region could also manually opt for receiving the security updates by navigating to Settings > Software update, and tapping on the Download and install button.
The Galaxy Xcover 4s is a mid-range rugged smartphone that comes with IP68 dust and water-resistant rating and a MIL-STD-810G-compliant design for shock and heat resistance. It has a 5-inch IPS LCD screen, a 5MP selfie camera, a 16MP rear-facing camera. Moreover, it runs on a 2800mAh battery.
Samsung had started the process of rolling out its June 2021 update with the Galaxy S21. More devices before June were also updated. First, it was mostly Google’s Nexus and Pixel devices that received the updates and likewise the first ones to get the latest Android security patches.
However, the South Korean tech giant has reversed the roles by updating its Galaxy phones on the first of each month. Pixel phones, on the other hand, get the updates on the first Monda of the month. The old Samsung smartphone, the Galaxy Xcover 4s was the latest one to get the security updates as of July 16, 2021.
